CSNano Technologies Sdn Bhd

Established in March 2016, CSNano Technologies Sdn Bhd was incorporated to operate as the commercial arm of Centre for Sustainable Nanomaterials (CSNano), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). The venture was in line with the UTM’s call for greater commercial involvement by higher education institutions. As a UTM spin-off company, CSNano Technologies Sdn Bhd key focus is now to engage with community and industry and bring additional and incremental income to UTM as part of its drive to achieve financial sustainability of CSNano. on 23 Apr 2016

He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Texas in 2003. He have experience in the development and/or applications of multipulse-excitation femtosecond spectroscopy, coherent broadband two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy, coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering microscopy, two-photon fluorescence, second harmonic generation microscopy.     Budhi gained his PhD in Applied Mathematics from Utrecht University, the Netherlands. Soon after that, he joined Bank of America Corp. as a Quantitative Financial Analyst based in Singapore. His research has been mainly on Applied Probability and Stochastic Modeling motivated by problems in actuarial science, credit risk and financial economics. He was a visiting scholar to Columbia University in NYC, LSE, Bath, Goethe University in Frankfurt, Osaka, NTU and NCTU in Taiwan, CUHK, Monash and ANU at which he was invited to give a talk and do his research. He secured some research grants from DAAD, Victoria University PBRF Research Grants and recently from CSIRO Australia for a joint PhD research grants with B-School Monash University and CSIRO. Budhi joined Victoria University of Wellington in February 2015.

    Dr. Sudharsan Pandiyan is currently working as as an Application Scientist (Materials Science) at Schrödinger, Inc., Bangalore, India. He is specialized in materials and composites focusing in molecular modeling. He obtained his B.S. and M.Sc. degrees in 2003 and 2005 from St. Joseph’s College, Trichy, respectively. He continued his postgraduate studies in molecular modeling at University of Savoie, France and Max-Planck-Institute for Polymer Research, Germany as he received his Ph.D. degree in 2009. His postdoctoral studies started with a year (2010-2011) at Department of Physical Chemistry, University of Paris (South), France. He continued working as a numerical simulation researcher at Scientific Instrumentation Group, LIST, Luxembourg (2011-2012), a senior project scientist at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India (2012-2013), and a researcher at Polymer Chemistry and Material Division, Department of Chemistry, KU-Leuven, Belgium (2013-2016). >More info

    CSNano Seminar Series 10: Assoc Prof. Dr. Oki Muraza

    Dr. Oki Muraza is an Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering at KFUPM. In the past six years, as a principal investigator, he secured about 18 million SR (~$ 4.8 million) research grants from companies and national funding agency (KACST). He received his PhD in Chemical Engineering at Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU Eindhoven) on Catalytic Microreactors with Prof. Jaap Schouten. He obtained his MSc in Chemical Engineering from Technische Universiteit Delft (TU Delft) with MSc research on Zeolite Membranes under supervision Prof. Em. Koos Jansen. His current activities are mainly in catalysts for selective production of propylene, heavy oil production and upgrading and methanol-to-propylene. Prior to joining KFUPM as a Faculty, he worked as a Research Associate at The Petroleum Institute AD in a research collaboration with University of Minnesota (Prof. Michael Tsapatsis) on zeolite based catalysts/adsorbents for hydrocarbon processing. He was a JPI Research Fellow Hokkaido University (with Prof. Takao Masuda) in 2011-2012 and a visiting researcher at Åbo Akademi Finland in 2007. He was working in offshore oil and gas operation with Repsol YPF-SES as Chemical Supervisor and Production Supervisor From 2001 until 2002. He received JPI Research Exchange Fellowship in 2011-2012, NIOK (Dutch Institute for Catalyst Research) Award as one of the highest scores in a NIOK examination in December 2004 over about 50 PhD students in catalysis fields in the Netherlands. He was awarded with Huygens Scholarship (2003-2004), The Netherlands, UNESCO SFP, TU Delft Scholarship (2002-2004) and The Dow Chemical Company Scholarship (1997-2000). >More info

    CSNano Seminar Series 9: Dr. Hendra Hermawan

    Hendra Hermawan studied materials engineering at BS (1999), MS (2002) and PhD (2009) levels in Indonesia and Canada, and received a professional recognition as Chartered Engineer from the Engineering Council in UK (2013). He was professionally trained in cathodic protection with NACE CP-2 certification (2013) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (2016). After gaining postdoctoral experience in a collaborative research project with a Spain-based medical company (2009-2010), he started his independent research career as Senior Lecturer at University of Technology of Malaysia (2010-2014). Since September 2014, he is Assistant Professor at the Dept. of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Université Laval and Researcher at the Axis of Regenerative Medicine, CHU de Quebec Research Center. His research interest revolves around biomaterials, corrosion, and biodegradable metals for biomedical applications. Based on Web of Science citation metrics, he has published >30 papers, received >600 citations with h-index 11. Among his recent publications include a book on Biomaterials and Medical Devices published by Springer and a paper on porous biodegradable metals published in Nature’s Scientific Report. He serves as associate editor at Journal of Healthcare Engineering and editorial board member at Journal of Orthopaedic Translation (Elsevier). >> More info
