The Centre for Sustainable Nanomaterials (CSNano) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) opened in 1997, with the aim to be a leading research centre for fundamental and applied materials science research. CSNano’s mission is to grow into a centre-of-excellence for conducting advanced research, development, and demonstration of fundamental and applied science research in materials sciences with having global impact.

CSNano is an interdisciplinary research and educational centre focused on fostering the advancement of materials science at Ibnu Sina Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. With 7 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 11 Senior Lecturers, 16 support staff and 5 external associate members, and more than one hundred PhD/Master scholars, CSNano fosters the scientific and technical breadth of materials science, which spans research areas including heterogeneous catalysts, porous nanomaterials, supramolecular functional nanomaterials, nano/molecular photochemistry, biomaterials semiconductor nanostructures, analytical science, separation chemistry, organometallic chemistry, physics of low dimensional structure, quantum chemistry and Fussy modelling. The years ahead present an unparalleled opportunity for CSNano to focus on long term competence development that will broadly studies the functional materials to address the global challenges by cross-disciplinary approach. This is a daunting and inspiring task that we look forward to undertaking in partnership with our academic and industry partners.
