Professor Mohd Marsin Sanagi is currently Senior Director of Ibnu Sina Institute for Scientific & Industrial Research and Research Fellow of Centre for Sustainable Nanomaterials and Full Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) where he supervises a research group investigating separation science methods. His research interests include the development and applications of analytical separations such as GC, LC, CE and microextraction methods for the analysis of environmental samples, pharmaceuticals and natural products. His current research interests focus on green extraction methods utilizing functionalized mesoporous materials and nanomaterials and subcritical water methods. After completing his primary and secondary education in Batu Pahat, Johor, he continued his study and gained his bachelor degree in Chemistry (1979) from Macalester College, St. Paul, Minnesota, USA and his Master degree in Chemistry (1980) from University of Iowa, Iowa City, USA. He then joined UTM as a lecturer in 1981 and a few years later he further studied at Loughborough University, UK where he received his PhD (1988). He was promoted to associate professorship in October 1991 and full professorship in October 2002. Enhanced by teamwork and collaboration, he has published >100 high-impact journal articles and book chapters in addition to five books.
