About Us

Our research focuses on synthesizing novel bio-ceramic materials for orthopedic applications. Research aims to fully understand the effect of in-vivo ion release from ceramic materials on the bone repair process and to translate this knowledge to accelerate the in-vivo bone repair process so the convalescence time of the patient can be reduced.  We are also exploring the ways to part unique properties such as antibacterial, magnetic and special optical properties to bio-ceramics so their use can be more versatile.  We are also involved in altering the surface properties of the metallic implants through coating them with biomaterials.  Fabrication of scaffolds with controlled porosity and pore size for guided-bone regeneration are also under scrutiny.
